Connect your Stripe Terminal

Why use a terminal? 

Our customers choose to use a Stripe terminal for a few reasons: 

  1. Stripe's processing fee is lower when processing a card with the terminal vs processing it manually in the reservation system. 
  2. Using the terminal gives you a quicker method for processing cards, while still keeping all of your credit card transactions in one place (your Stripe account).
  3. Some guests can be apprehensive about handing over their credit card for manual entry.

Compatible Terminal(s):

Currently, our system is only compatible with two different terminal models: BBPOS WisePOS E and the Verifone P400 ("grandfathered" compatibility - this is no longer sold by Stripe). NOTE: The reservation system is ONLY compatible with Stripe terminals. 

How to:

Connecting your Stripe terminal has two major phases:

  1. The first step will be to enable the "Terminal" payment type within your reservation system Settings. You can do this by navigating to your Settings through your property name (in the upper left corner), then you'll choose the "Payment" tab (fourth tab down). From the payment tab, you'll click the "Payment Types Available" drop-down menu (shown below) and select "Terminal" at the bottom. Finally, you'll "Save". 
  2. Now that you have the "Terminal" payment type enabled, we'll connect your terminal to the system. To do this, you'll turn on your BBPOS WisePOS E terminal, swipe from left to right, and enter the "Admin Pin" (0-7-1-3-9). Next, click the Settings button (on the terminal) - this should bring you to the Admin Options, of which you'll select "Generate Pairing". The "Generate Pairing" should reveal a code (example: seal-tapestry-door), enter this code verbatim into the "Terminal Code" field in the reservation system and choose a "Terminal Label" as well (hint: make this unique, ex: "Skyway RV Park Terminal"). Finally, click "Add Terminal" button and Save!

Process a payment on the terminal:

You will process a payment through the terminal with more-or-less the same exact steps used to process a payment using any other payment type: 

  1. Find the reservation you're looking to settle and click the "Settle" button to bring up the processing pop-up.
  2. Click the "Payment Types" drop-down menu (this will default to "Credit-Card"). Scroll down to "Terminal" and select (Hint: you can scroll down on the payment types even if you don't see a scrollbar on the right side). 
  3. The payment will pop up on the Terminal - process and select "Collect Payment" back in the reservation system!
