How to Build the Interactive Map

The Interactive Map is used by your guests when booking online so they can view your sites and amenities. When you allow them to pick their site, they can book the individual site and see which ones are available for when they want to stay. If you only allow booking by site type, your guest will see where sites are but not see availability.

To build or update your map, you place sites in their respective spots as well as amenities you want to highlight within the Good Sam Booking platform. Note: Before you begin these steps, it is good to have a map of your campground for reference and all of the sites are uploaded into the Good Sam Booking platform. Once you start to build your map, it is available immediately to guests booking online. There currently is no "draft" mode.

After you have confirmed the prerequisites are taken care of, you may follow along with the video or step-by-step directions and/or follow along with the screen shots below:

First, navigate to the "Sites" tab on the left hand side of the booking platform. Once here, you will see "Edit Map" on the upper right hand side of your screen, as pictured below.

If this is your first time in your map, it will bring up a blank canvas!

You will notice some icons on the right hand side of your map. The first one looks like a tent. This is what you will click on to add your sites/units.

Once you click on this box, it will bring a green plus sign on your cursor. Once this appears, click on the map on the corresponding spot that you would like to add your site. Once you click on the spot on your map, a box will appear. This is where you will choose which campsite/lodging unit you would like to place in this location.

Once you click on the "Select Unit" drop down, you will be able to select the site/unit number. Click "Add."

As you can see below, I have now successfully added site number 22 to this spot on my map!

The RV icon next to the tent will be the next one we discuss. This is your "Amenities" icon. You will go through the same process as adding your sites to add your amenities.

Once your "Amenities" icon is clicked, you will see that same green plus sign. Click on your map where you would like to put your amenity. Once you have done that, another box will pop up to choose that amenity. I am going to go ahead and add a clubhouse to my map.

Once you select that amenity, you will click Add.

As you can see below, my clubhouse is now on my map!

Note: If there is an amenity you have at your campground that isn't in the list, please reach out to us to see if we can add it.

The next button I want to discuss is the one all the way to the right that looks like a slider bar with a black dot in it. You will use this button to "Stop Adding" once you are done, or if you no longer need to add a site or amenity!

Under this button are  + and - buttons. This is what you will use to zoom in or out on your screen.

There is another important section to note when setting up your Interactive Map that can be found in your "Personalization" tab. To get to this tab, navigate to your campground by clicking your campground name in the upper left hand corner and then clicking on "Personalization," as seen below.

If you scroll down, you will come to a section that says "Render Options." Directly under that it says "Site Map Zoom." This number is going to set how zoomed in your map appears to your guests. You can play around and adjust this until it appears how you would like it to for your guests!

Notice above I have my number set to 20. When a camper goes on to reserve, this is how that would appear to them:

If I decided that maybe I would like it better zoomed out a little more, I could go in and change that number to 15. This is how that would appear:

Your guests can also zoom in and out using the arrows to the left of the screen! For more help with setting up the other sections of your "Personalization" page, click here.

Note: Reach out to us if you need additional roads or trails added to the map that do not exist as we can request those get added. Since we work with OpenStreetMap.org for the mapping tool, it may take up to four months for the roads to be added due to the approval process.
