How Per Night Add Ons Work

Per night add ons allow you to charge a guest for an item or service for each night of their stay. This can be used for things like fire pits, additional vehicles, pet fees, or equipment rentals.

How Is the Price Calculated?

The total is based on the price of the add on, the quantity selected, and the number of nights in the reservation.

For example, imagine a Per night add on costs $5. The guest selects a quantity of two for a two-night reservation. The system calculates the charge like this:

$5 × 2 add ons × 2 nights = $20

Once the reservation is created, the $20 charge will appear under Product in the Reservation Summary. It will also appear under Add Ons in the Billing Details.

Adding a Per Night Add On to an Existing Reservation

You can add a Per night add on after the reservation has been created whether they are checked in or not.

In this example, the reservation was created without an add on and originally totaled $85.

The campground later added two $5 Per night add ons for the guest’s two-night stay. The system added a $20 charge, increasing the reservation total from $85 to $105.

Per Night Add-On Applied After Reservation Creation

A Per night add-on can be added after a reservation is created, including on the reservation’s check-in date.

In this example, the reservation was created without an add-on and originally totaled $85.

The campground then added two $5 Per night add-ons. The add-on was calculated for the reservation’s two nights, adding $20 to the reservation:

$5 × 2 add-ons × 2 nights = $20

The reservation total increased from $85 to $105.

Adding a Per Night Add On After Check-In

A Per night add on can still be applied after check-in, but it will only calculate the nights remaining in the reservation. It will not go back and charge for nights that passed before the add on was applied.

For example, if the add on is applied one day after check-in and the reservation still has three nights remaining, the system will charge for those three nights. It will not include the check-in night because the add on was not applied until the following day.

If the add on is applied on the check-out date, the amount will show as $0.00 because there are no nights remaining in the reservation.

Important: A Per night add on applied after the stay begins may not calculate the full amount you intend. Always check how many nights remain before applying it.

Why is my add on showing $0.00?

If a Per night add on is applied after the guest has been checked in, the price and quantity may appear on the reservation, but the amount may show as $0.00. This means the charge was not added to the reservation total.

In this example, the Per night add-on has a quantity of two and a price of $5 per night. Although the expected charge is $10, the amount remains $0.00 because the add-on was applied after the reservation’s check-in date had arrived.

How do I fix the $0.00?

If the guest has already been checked in, use a Flat Price add on instead. A Flat Price add on is calculated using only the price and quantity. It is not multiplied by the number of nights.

Here is how to create a flat rate add on.

In this example, the guest needs two add ons for a two-night stay. Since a Flat Price add on does not calculate the number of nights, the quantity must be changed to four to cover the full stay. Two add ons multiplied by two nights equals a quantity of four. At $5 each, the Flat Price add on adds a total charge of $20 to the reservation.

Summary

Per night add ons are calculated using the price, quantity, and number of remaining nights in the reservation. If an add on is applied after the stay begins, it will only charge for the nights remaining from the date it was added. It will not retroactively charge for nights that have already passed. If it is added on the check-out date, the amount will show as $0.00 because there are no nights remaining. To charge for the entire stay, use a Flat Price add on and make sure the quantity includes all add ons needed for every night.
